Sparrows Dance

Hmm!
Interesting, unique indie. Seemingly moves slow, but is actually quick and to the point; the contradiction somehow works in the film's favor. There is an easy charm wrapped in its own hesitation carried throughout the story, which seems to reflect - or is the by product of - the opposite natures of the characters. The film strikes a near perfect balance of emotion whilst touching upon many. Overall, the words endearing, lovely, and delightful come to mind, but I am not sure exactly how or why they apply. Rent it and see for yourself.

Sparrows dancing in the dead of night
Sparrows are said to always return home. But some sparrows, it seems, never leave home.

The protagonist in "Sparrows Dance" is one of those reluctant sparrows: She hasn't left her apartment for a year. Forced to call a plumber after her toilet floods, she suggests a do-it-yourself solution to avoid company from the outside world: "Maybe one of your plumbers could walk me through it by phone and we could figure it out on the phone. "

Or not.

Clearly not a plumber, the woman is left to allow the plumber to enter her home and fix her toilet. But will she let him enter her life?

The dialogue is great and the shots are very creative. When the couple is talking in bed, for example, their faces appear and disappear by the oscillating lights of the neon lights outside the woman's window.

My only wish is that the rental would be less expensive so more people would be able to see it.

A beautifully shot movie
This movie is incredible, from the set design to the lighting to the acting to the story. You get a real sense of the character's agoraphobia with as little said or done as possible. I hope to see more of this writer/director's work soon.
