Princess Knight, Part 1 (Litebox)

English only?
The original title of this is Ribbon Knight.
I just received this, and intend to give it to my wife as a gift. Thus, I will not be watching it for a while, and I cannot tell you anything specific now. However I feel it is my duty to other shoppers to inform you, according to the package label, it is English only.
Does this dissapoint you? Perhaps Japanese speaking families in the west are a minority; still I cannot help but feel sad. Besides limiting who can enjoy this, what about the work of the actors and actresses who put their hearts into creating it the first place? Are their unique voices, talents and efforts meaningless?
Perhaps I should just be happy it's available at all, eh?

A Timeless Classic
Osamu Tezuka, oftentimes regarded as the Godfather of Anime, has created some of the most compelling and genre defining animations since the early sixties. Considered to be the Japanese equivalent to Walt Disney, Tezuka brought us timeless classics like Astro Boy, Kimba the White Lion, Black Jack and countless others. His works carry a perennial quality reflected in nearly every animation we see today and it would be impossible to talk about this legendary virtuoso without discussing his revered Princess Knight series. 3-D animation may have taken center stage in the past decade, but the delicacy of traditionally hand-drawn frames carries an unparalleled aesthetic that remains ageless regardless of how much the medium evolves. The newly released Princess Knight collection takes us back more than forty years when Japanese animation was still in its infancy. While much of the recorded material has either deteriorated or been damaged over time, this latest release proves to be the finest...

Classic Anime
It's a pleasure to see this lost show that is just now officially out. To think its been 30 years since it was last broadcasted in the US. Well on the review side of the topic, I would say the restoration looks decent, and the story is just as good as any old Disney film, as influential as that franchise is to this day and age. I can't say how much the dub differs from the original Japanese audio, but I enjoy the silly voices and overall girlie vibe that this show gives off.
